NaPoWriMo - Day Four

 Irregular Apocolypse

Movies and television have it all wrong
There will be no zombies running amok,
no alien spaceships hovering
over New York or DC or Los Angeles
No ice ages that will freeze us all as we stand
and no global tsunamis
washing over humanitys home.
Our downfall wil be our own,
our responsibility, our regret
our mistakes
We are our own apocolypse.

We stomp through life,
seemingly unaware that in so doing
We step one booted foot at a time
into our own undoing.
Our own downfalls.
Perhaps it is our curse
the fact that we destroy everything
we touch.
That we take without giving.
That we rampage through our
own home on Earth
without thought or consequence.

Once upon a time, we were new here
We worked with our Earth
and took only what she gave
and were thankful
We lived on her schedule
we plowed in season
we sowed in time
She gave us everything
but everything has never been enough.

We take advantage
and the little we have learned
has been learned far too late
We are
our own apocolypse
and it is anything but regular.

NaPoWriMo - Day Three

A modern sea shanty.

Jon Boats, Bass Boats, Long boats all,
We fish every season from summer to fall.
With a beer in one hand and a pole in the other
We’re friends one and all, an odd band of brothers.

We fish, and we fish, and we fish all day long
We drink and we drink and we sing the fish song
There’s no where else we’d rather be
Than a river, a lake, a stream, or the sea.

We’ve got a full cooler, a pot full of bait
There’s never a very good reason to wait
The fish be a-biting, the suns shining hot
We could eat for a year on the fishes we got

We fish, and we fish, and we fish all day long
We drink and we drink and we sing the fish song
There’s no where else we’d rather be
Than a river, a lake, a stream, or the sea.

I’ve a pig on me left knee, a cock on me right,
So should I go under, my charms they will fight
I’ve a swallow on the bottoms of each of me feet
So my fair wife and children again I might meet

We fish, and we fish, and we fish all day long
We drink and we drink and we sing the fish song
There’s no where else we’d rather be
Than a river, a lake, a stream, or the sea.

At the end of the day when we’ve fished ourselves out
We’ve got bass and bream and a pretty fat trout
We’ve packed up our lures, our poles and our ties
Don’t ask us about sizes and we’ll tell you no lies.

We fish, and we fish, and we fish all day long
We drink and we drink and we sing the fish song
There’s no where else we’d rather be
Than a river, a lake, a stream, or the sea.

NaPoWriMo - Day Two 4/2/2013

It only rains on Tuesdays,
the bus always runs on time
Chef Ramsey never gets angry
you can buy anything you want with a dime.

Kitty cats never get sleepy
Little dogs never bite
Watched pots boil quickly
And the sun shines brightest at night.

Babies don't cry on airplanes,
Traffic never backs up,
Daryl Dixon loves zombies
And Cujo was s sweet little pup.

Cops have a great sense of humor,
Strippers love one dollar bills
Grizzly bears hate salmon
And ghosts never gave anyone chills.

Its always overcast in California
New Orleans is very dry,
New York is quaint and quiet
And Las Vegas is actually quite shy.

Tigers have no stripes,
Zebra's have spots
Cougars have some stripes
and Elephants have nots.

Ladies do not like chocolate
And men have never liked beer
Children love their vegetables
And ice cream never finds your rear.

Sitcoms are educational
Documentaries keep you awake
Models eat donuts for breakfast
And Playboy's pictures aren't fake.

Dandelions grow where you want them,
Grass will never need mowed
Bunnies don't really like clover
And rows have no need be hoed.

Writing always comes easy,
Novels are easy as pie,
Bloggers are never quite honest
And poets never, ever lie.

NaPoWriMo - Day One 4/1/2013

Have you heard about NaPoWriMo?

I hadn't and since I just discovered this, I've decided I'm up for the challenge.

It's been a while since I've felt the desire to write poetry, so we'll see how it goes.

April 1, 2013

She walks in beauty, like the night
silvered whiskers quivering....anticipating
the lure of a mouse in tall grass
the sudden swoop of a fragile wingspan
shocking her into the pounce.

She sleeps in serenity, like the stars
the twitch of an enormous white paw
or the slow rise and fall of tiny ribs
all that proves she sleeps
and has not drifted into the beyond.

She loves in totality, like a mother
and nothing can change the adoration seen in a glance
or the rub of cheek against cheek
the slow knead of soft pink pads
or claw-less toes massaging skin.

She trusts in devotion, like a child,
nothing can harm her, no pain will come
so long as you're there
a kind word, a gentle stroke,
a lap to hold her world.

She rests in peace, like a sunset
mourned until a memory returns and brings a smile,
or a tear of remembrance
A simple stone marks her presence in our world,
a presence still and forevermore missed.

In loving memory of our Perfect Precious Princess Boo.

And the holiday tradition continues.....

I've gotten to where I dread holidays.

Seriously.

Every single special day we lose one of our furbabies.  It's odd really, and it makes me scared for the next holiday around the corner.

I told my entire family not to let our one remaining outside kitty out of the house yesterday thinking I'd be safe.  Well our next door neighbor takes care of all the ones I can't take in my house, so on the way home from dinner at the in-laws last night, I get a text from my neighbor.

The little kitten born in the fall of last year was hit by a car.

Sniffle.

We named him Muffin Man because he looks just like one of our outside kitties who disappeared on Black Friday this past year, and her name was Muffin.  He was sweet if terribly skittish and I'll miss seeing his little orange and white face peeking over the bottom frame in the french door.

You'll be missed little man, but there are lots of your little friends already waiting for you just over the Rainbow Bridge.

RIP Muffin Man

The Dental Trauma Begins.....

So, as the title says, the trauma begins.
I used to have great teeth.  As a matter of fact, my dentist once told me that if everyone had teeth like mine, he'd be a shoe salesman.  No more.
I took Ritalin for about 10 years and for some reason, I became a pro at tossing cookies.  Not literally, just you know....puking.  Within an hour after taking it, I'd throw my guts up without fail.  Three pills a day for 10 years and the subsequent issues are with my teeth.  They're dropping like flies.
I've already had one pulled so I've got the hole there, but this new dentist says nope, we can FIX it.  To the tune of a root canal and crown.  Now, don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with dentists and I've got a crazy high pain tolerance, so I'm not worried or scared or anything like that.
Basically the downside is the cost and of course having to get up and get dressed to go out of the house which if you know me is a big deal.  I should own stock in pajama companies.

So anyway, yeah, April 8th is the big day.  The pain right now is off and on, and it's not that big a deal except when I take a swig of an icy cold drink then well, you can count me out for the time it takes me to dance around holding my jaw yelling "OW OW OW" for a few minutes at any rate.  You gotta give me that okay?
I've never had anything more than a filling and the extraction so I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm definitively NOT listening to my husband who is horrified of dentists.  Nope.  Don't tell me what to expect.  I'll figure it out on my own and if it's bad, I'll be back here on the 9th complaining my butt off.

That doesn't look so bad........right?

I guess we'll see, but until then.....toodles!

I'm kinda sorta maybe back.....

So it's been a while huh?
I've tried to justify myself as to why I've been M.I.A., but really it's just life happening.  Thank God it does that too, the alternative would not be amusing.  It's ridiculous really how fast time flies by, especially when you spend over 3/4 of your life having to sleep.  On the plus side, I've gotten quite a few of my projects done, although most are still half done at this point.
I'm tempted to just start writing and tell you everything, but then you know I'd have nothing to say tomorrow or the  next day or the one after that, so I'll try to refrain from spilling the beans for now.
I don't expect any of my readers to trust me that I'm going to be back for good this time, so I guess I'll have to be patient and prove myself, not just to me, but to you guys as well this time around, and hopefully I'll do better.  I guess time will tell huh?
So I'll leave you with some teasers.
Still have cats.  Lots of cats.
Daughter still at VCUarts. Still working at GameStop.
Projects done:  LR and Ofc floors, kitchen floors, painting, stairs, kitchen island.
Pets buried:  BooBoo 4/16/12, Fat Man 2/8/2013, Arpeggio 4/17/2013
Parents scammed out of $1000.00
Daughter FINALLY has new BF, he  moved here from Michigan to be with her and is currently living with us until he's on his feet.  He just got a job yesterday. YAY!
Husband still being trampled by cats every night, still working too hard for too little money.
Teeth are falling out from too many years taking Ritalin and throwing up three times a day.  This sucks by the way, I've always had great teeth, and I'm missing the one I had to have pulled so far and hating the two that are most likely next since they're killing me at the moment.
Currently serving as Secundo for Faith Hunter's street team, Beast Claws.  (Check out the Jane Yellowrock books if you haven't already, they're awesome)
Enjoying watching Denny Hamlin race, the Cowboys lose and the Avalanche struggle.
Still addicted to Food Network, although Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Big Bang Theory are right up there.  Would probably give up Food Network for Walking Dead though since I'm not so secretly in love with Norman Reedus.
Still roleplaying with my best friend.
Discovered Arbor Mist Blackberry Merlot and have turned into a wino, minus the shopping cart and "Will work for Wine" sign.
Putting off doing my taxes even though I really need that money cuz well, it's taxes and they're not fun.
I guess that's about it for now.  Hopefully I'll do better this time around.
