another year, lots of new dreams.

hello lovelies, allow me to introduce myself.  my name is lindsay from scenic glory...this is my little corner of the world i have created and where donna and i first met :)  first, i would like to thank the beautiful donna for inviting me to guest post on her blog.  i am so honored to be here ♥

i must say, at first i was a little nervous about this post since donna has created such a wonderful outlet for her writing.  i have never really thought of myself as a writer, but as a child my ideas were much different.  i used to dream of writing childrens books and creating all of the beautiful images to go along with it.  i look back and wonder what ever happened to this dream?

do you ever find yourself looking back to your own childhood wondering what happened to all of those dreams you once had?  people say that the older are wiser, and this may be true, but with age i realize that so many of my dreams and ambitions have been lost over the years.  i sincerely believe that as children we are much more creative and wild with our thoughts...this is the time when we really dream.  although we have many different responsibilities as adults than we did as children, i still think it is a shame to let everything we once dreamed of feather away into nothing.

so today i propose a challenge for you for2011...i challenge you to think back, remember those dreams you once had and make at least one a reality.

another year, lots of new dreams.  make 2011 count ♥

Bravo Lindsey! Beautiful post, it reminds me of my resolution post I did the other day. I too have been thinking about my childhood dreams and this year all that I am challenging myself too is figuring out what I truly want to do. Thank you for being so wonderful. Donna made a great choice!! :)

xoxo

First off...YEAH for guest bloggers! I got to guest blog over at Refusing to Grow Old Gracefully for Donna and it was so much fun!

Second off...When I was a little girl I dreamed of so many different things. Of course, I wanted to be a princess and a ballerina and own a huge horse farm! SO, I was a princess for Halloween 5 years in a row (I was all kinds of different princess though...A medieval princess, a heart princess, a fairy princess, a tiger princess, and princess Elizabeth.) I also took ballet lessons for a year in 3rd grade and then I took horseback riding lessons for six years after that. I guess what I am getting at is that my dreams as a child did not work out exactly as I thought they would, but they did come true in some sense.

Yes, as children we have these wonderfully fantastic dreams, some nearly impossible, yet we reach for them in some form or another. I agree that my dreams may be more "practical" but they are there. I just look at it different now :)

Wow - we're thinkin' alike! My last 2 blog posts are these same lines, hoping to offer encouragement for people to go after all that makes their heart sing. "Courage" is my word for 2011 :)
Blessings to you as you step out and go after your dreams!

I just love you, Lindsay- you should really write a book! I would read it:-) I wanted to be a cheerleading doctor when I was younger...yea, pretty glad I got over that one! That one may not be in the running, but you have me thinking of so many more that I just may hold on to for 2011. Thanks for the reminder:-)

When I was a kid, I wanted to grow up to be a teacher. I don't think I even knew about homeschooling at the time, but I feel like I've achieved that childhood dream by being a home educator to my own child.
I also wanted to travel the world which is something I'm determined to make happen in the next several years. :)

I think we lose our dreams by decades.

By our teens we have already begun to taste reality's sore spit! Thinking of ones self alone no longer works in their groups with their families or friends.

By our twenties, we see this even more. Otherwise we become disliked, and left alone.

Then, by our thirties we have acknowledged to a large sense our limitations. Our dreams become less glamorous and more about family, sharing, kindness, compassion.

Our dreams as children are purely selfish, and I believe as we grow, we must surrender to the fact that being selfish might lead to money and success, or whatever else those dreams might be, but it doesn't get us love, companionship, solid connections with people who think you matter.

My drams to be a superstar at five, became a wish to be a better person, a good wife, daughter, friend. My most selfish dream is to be a writer, but I work that around my life. It's not more important than what or rather who, matters.
